Surprise police drill paralyzes nation

Unannounced security forces' exercise creates huge traffic jams across nation; police set up roadblocks on major roads, including Tel Aviv-Jerusalem Highway. Eyewitness: I've never seen anything like it

An unannounced police drill involving other security forces caused huge traffic jams nationwide Thursday afternoon.



Among the scenarios practiced in the drill was a terrorist takeover of two sites in Tel Aviv and mock negotiations with hostage-takers, Tel Aviv District Police Chief Shahar Ilan said.



As part of the exercise, authorities blocked various roads in central Israel while police forces deployed nationwide en masse. The drill involves all of Israel's emergency and rescue forces, including the IDF, Shin Bet, Fire department, Magen David Adom, and Israel Prison Service.



Police officials say that a special administration was set up by the Border Guard in order to plan and prepare the major exercise in line with existing threats. Some parts of the drill required the use of civilian "extras" in order to simulate real-time events.

I hear that Israel has also passed out new gas masks to the citizens AND have refurbished their bomb shelters. I think they are seriously getting ready for a bad war.

I have heard another thing. Israel took possession of some new F16s lately, and they were 'refitting' them. The item they were fixing was the gas tanks. According to my brother (former military), Israel does not have long range enough fighters to fly into Iran to bomb their nuke sites and then be able to fly back without refueling. So could it be that they are fixing up their jets so they will have the capacity to do a bombing mission in Iran?????

This of course was a report written on the back page of a magazine my Dad had. It is not being reported too much. I think this could be why the Israelis are waiting...patiently getting ready for the inevitable war.

I'm sure they would be doing this anyway, but perhaps even more so since we refused to sell them the refueling acft they asked for.
